The winner of a prestigious American Professional Artists League’s Frank C. Wright Medal of Honor, awarded at the Grand National Exhibition in New York in 2006. Winner of “Public admiration” award at the Canada Portrait Society annual International competition in 2007.

Andrew Atroshenko was born in 1965 in the city of Pokrovsk, Russia. In 1977 he was accepted as a gifted child into Children’s Art School, from which he graduated with honors in 1981. In 1983 he entered Bryansk Art College, and in 1991 was accepted at one of the most prestigious and best art schools in the world, the St. Petersburg Academy of Art named after Repin (Repin School).

In 1992 Andrew married a fellow student, now art an critique in St Petersburg, Russia, and has one child, a daughter named Sasha.

Starting in 1994 Andrew took part in exhibitions such as exhibition of the St. Petersburg artists in Reutlingen, Germany, exhibition of a group “Academy” in St. Petersburg (1996), exhibition “Teacher’s memory” (1997). In 1999, after graduating from the Academy, he was invited by a New England, USA based art group, “Bay Arts”, to take part in their exhibitions and activities. He spent a year in the United States.

Says Andrew: “This year in America gave me more as an artist then all 8 years of my formal studies in many better Russian academies. I am a descendent of farmers, and I was impressed by the New England’s landscapes, and how a man in America avoids harming its environment. I also visited Art Expo NY 2000, and after seeing Royo and Pino suddenly realized what direction I want to take in my art. After staying for a year in the United States, I spent two years in Russia perfecting my art, and at the same time sold my works of two different styles under two different names “Andrew Batura” and “Andre Mare”. My paintings were sold successfully in the United States, in galleries across Florida, California, Ohio and Arizona. I also took part in a variety of group exhibitions and auctions in France, both Paris and province. Very important role in my life plays my family - wife Maria and daughter Alexandra. Maria is an art critique, and she helps me in my work. Alexandra was for a long time my inspiration and main hero of my paintings, mostly the ones I sold in France. In the United States I was successful in selling such subject matters as jazz musicians, coffee shops, romantic couples”.

During 2001 Andrew made sketches for sculptors for the Norwalk based company “MBI”.

In 2000-2005 Andrew worked with dealers from Western Europe and the US, exhibiting and selling his paintings in such US galleries as “Valentina” of Carmel, CA, “Elite” of Scottsdale, “Vendome Galleries” in Beverly Hills & Desert Springs, “Collectors Fine Art” in Las Vegas and Hawaii. His works were sold on art auctions in Nice, Lion and Paris, France, as well as twice his paintings were sold on Sotheby’s Internet Auctions (in 2002 & 2003). Four of his images were published in 2004 by Vendome Editions of Beverly Hills as limited edition prints (and printed by Eclipse Workshop), and sold out exclusively through Wentworth Galleries.

From 2005 till 2010 Andrew’s work was distributed worldwide by the largest US art publishing company, Collectors Editions.
